No Big Deal

April 13, 2011

Today’s song is called No Big Deal. My original ideal was that I was going to write about different attempts at things that more or less failed, etc. and then resolve it with the chorus No Big Deal. But as I began to write it took on a totally different character. Instead, it became the story of a man who commits a petty crime and is sent to jail.

Tomorrow’s topic will be Mishmash.

Johnny was a bad man
He went and broke the law
He broke into a market
This time he went to far
The police were poised and waiting
They knew just where he’d be
He came in thru a window
Where everyone could see.

No Big Deal No Big Deal
All his life he could not feel
No Big Deal No Big Deal
Now his bars are made of steel.

The police were at the doorway
The light was floating blue
They cuffed his hands behind him
There was nothing he could do
The policeman called the station
The lights were flashing red
He sat him in the back seat
And knocked him in his head.

No Big Deal No Big Deal
All his life he could not feel
No Big Deal No Big Deal
Now his bars are made of steel.

The judge he said to Johnny
Son you must pull some time.
I ‘ll give you 10 to 20 as
The sentence for your crime
There is no use in lying
You may as well confess
Johnny looked up at the judge
Sir, I’ll do my best.

No Big Deal No Big Deal
All his life he could not feel
No Big Deal No Big Deal
Now his bars are made of steel.
