The Giants Behind the Sky

Steve Mallis,  March, 2013

A child looks up into a thousand points of light

One star moves like a brush in the night

Afraid to watch he runs inside

He hides from the Giants Behind The Sky.

A young man lies beneath the falling stars

but the light they shine can’t erase his scars

Too busy to watch he runs inside

He hides from the Giants Behind the Sky.

I know you don’t believe me, but I tell you they are there.

And if you can’t perceive them, then I doubt you really care

Don’t be naive, it’s not make-believe

You’re hiding from the Giants Behind the Sky.

And now there are two, hidden by the night

They can’t see the stars for the clouds and the lights

There beneath the darkness deep inside

They hide from the Giants Behind the Sky.
